Old Tom and Jerry cartoons. Whenever they showed cat or mouse heaven, the "Pearly Gates" were always gold. A lot of stories, sitcoms and televisions shows always show big, golden gates, and I absolutely hate tropes. Aaaaaand, because of the instant incineration, remember: That's what they ASSUME the gates are. What they actually are should be up to interpretations such as this :)
