Cell 3.47

Content

Cell 3.47 was situated on the third floor of B wing in Stocken Gate prison, slap bang in the heart of London’s east end. Known as The Gate, the prison had a reputation for being a tough place to do time. The inmates behind the doors at The Gate endured long cold winters in the Victorian slammer that had been condemned many times but had always escaped closure. It was harsh, it was hard, and it was overrun by rats.Paula Pritchard was the sole resident of cell 3.47, but due to the rodent crisis she ...

Outstanding reviews

Brilliant writing that grips you Kate there is a book in there keep writing you are incredible
Congratulations on the win! First submission win… that’s great!
Very clever perspective. Look forward to reading more of your stories.
Congrats on the win! A nice "tail" of revenge and comeuppance. It felt like an alternative Ratatouille with more cocaine and revenge. Keep up the good work!
Haha thank you! I always thought those Ratatouille rats needed pepping up 🤣
Congratulations on the win. I thought the point of view was original and your sentence structure was exceptional. Well done.
Great job, the story was very creative and well done!
amazing i felt like i was there
A story that deserves the win! Very creative and suspenseful.
Congrats. I got a little confused but was cleared from it again. Fine work.
A great mix of darkness and humour. CongRATs on the win!
Loved it. Whether real or imaginary, rats are a darned sight more intelligent than most humans give them credit for. Looking forward to Rita's novel-length debut.
What a delightful, original read. Wonderful!!
Really enjoyed the story. You can't help sympathizing with the rats in this tale. Congrats.
AMAZING!
Fantastic piece! Inspired me to do an audio reading of the story. My first time doing a short story read so I hope it holds up to the quality standards of the writing itself. Can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7VXRJOVBME(Made sure to credit you! It's a hobby project but I wanted to make sure you were mentioned in the video)
Hey thanks! What a compliment
I absolutly love this story, the creativity is pheonominal and blown me away at how talented you are to make a story as amazing and unique as this. I never thought id read a story like this and love it so much. Keep up the amazing work :)
If the rats werent in prison but still sold drugs I think you could call this story breaking cheese XD
🤣🤣🤣
This was a very entertaining story and the perspective from the rats was written very nicely. I just didn't really get the memo about Pritchard, she is Paula? If that could be clarified further it would make it much better, but great job!!
This writing style is so similar to mine. And I’ve been dejected numerous times because people labelled my writing style as ‘too blunt’ or ‘not poetic enough’, but it’s so amazing and heart-wrenching to know that it’s not any of those things; it’s just a writing style.
Write from your heart and it won’t matter what anyone thinks about your words. Keep going Daphne- there’s space for the likes of us!!!
Four years ago, I bought the house I am living. It had rats and it took me two years to get rid of them. This story made me kind of sentimental about my little unwanted guests...but not enough to let them back in. This was highly entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat.
