Disappearing Completely

Content

It was a promise I made. We’re only as good as the promises we keep, even if those promises are made to ourselves and only ourselves. This promise I made to my best friend. The sort of promise you make when you’re young, never thinking you’ll ever have to do anything about it.  Wendy and John once promised each other that if they hadn’t settled down and married by the time they turned thir...

Outstanding reviews

Thanks for this - there's a lot to go at, lovely to see you engaged whole-heartedly with the story. I am fascinated with our defaults and how they drag us away from what counts. Great feedback with regard to pace. I suppose I can be economical with a story at times and I veer away from too much description so that the reader can provide that and engage all the more. To switch focus though and provide respite. I do need to consider that...
Yes that's one approach. A balancing act to practice mastering here!
Lots of mastering to be done - that's what keeps it fun and interesting. Different voices, perspectives and methods of expression. One story can be told a thousand times over.
Congrats. At thirty? Anyway, it's old age for ladies. But why didn't they agree by twenty-five?
Thanks!Hedging their bets. Gave themselves plenty of time to find someone else...
It makes sense that way then.
Congrats on making the shortlist! That was a great observation about what a half-assed promise it is to say if I haven't found anyone better by age 30 i'll checkin wiht you.
Thanks! People make that promise all the same though - it insults both parties really... I wonder whether anyone has ever made good on it??
Congrats on the shortlist. 🥳 This deserved it. You write so many a week I can't get them all read. I'll just wait till they win. Same as Jonathan Page.
Thank you! I'm pleased as punch that this got noticed. There's something a little special in this one. Thank you also for having faith in me and these stories of mine. That means a lot.
You deserve recognition. Can't believe how many stories you get out each week. I struggle with one.
It's all a struggle - you get it and that's big. You wishing me the best is huge. Urging others on as you struggle is testament to your spirit and positivity. Thank you once again.
Gary was carrying a lot of baggage up that hill to the bench. I'm glad Paul was there to help him let go of it.
It were as though Paul knew his friend and that he had to be there for him one last time. When it counted.
Touching story Jed! Great take on the prompt.
