I tried to keep time period rather nebulous and disorienting: old buildings and new cell phones, modern students and ancient methods of resolving feuds, so I'm glad the desired effect came across. :)Yes, I like the foreshadowing of your word choice in the scene with the dean better, and thank you for your point about dialogue tags -- sometimes I focus too much on not underusing them and end up doing the opposite (or vice versa).
