*Trigger Warning: Pregnancy Loss “Do they come with a card?” I solemnly asked the florist, a petite, tan woman with thick blonde hair cascading down her back. The kind of hair that has become popular for women half her age to have threaded and sewn onto the base of their skull. Even though we were in West Hollywood, the pulse of trend and glamour, the three untouched horizontal lines etched onto her foreh...
Outstanding reviews
Pari, you have magnificent descriptive power. Impossible for a reader not to read to the end of the story. Very compelling writing. You really are 'A Writer.'I look forward to reading more of your work. Congratulations on your win.
Thank you so much for such a heartfelt and encouraging comment. I am just beginning to write fiction and it means a lot!
Wonderfully written, the last few paragraphs brought me to tears. A very emotional, genuine piece, I feel lucky to have read it.
I'm so impressed with the details in your story. It almost feels like the scenes and characters are right in front of me and I'm really watching the actions play out. Beautiful piece, Pari, and congrats!
Thank you so much!! I just started writing fiction and your feedback is very encouraging!
The attention to detail in the story was remarkable. I like that you didn't let the terminology overpower the emotion. Well done.
Thank you so much! I am a doctor that is just starting to write fiction inspired by my experiences and that is great feedback. :)
Beautifully written. The last line clinches it so well. The choice of name is exceptional. This is the most telling line in the story, as it reflects Lily's own approach to who she is and how she presents to the outside world and her patients. "I always found it fascinating that lilies are believed to represent rebirth and purity, yet are often found at funerals. Such opposition within one flower".
Thank you Carla for recognizing my intention with that sentence!
This is indeed a powerful and moving story.Well done, and congratulations on the win. -:)RG
Thank you!
This was a really lovely story! I enjoyed that the doctor’s name was Lily. Congrats!
Thank you, Marie!
You must either work in the health care field or be an incredibly empathic individual. The ending and all the details ring true. Having some of my cousins and relatives work as doctors and nurses, I know the daily human drama is taxing. I also recently watched both "Younger" and "The Crown" and had a laugh at their mention. But what's a "wet" burrito ? Congrats on your win, I hope this is an impetus to write and inform the world about human struggles such as Rebecca's.
Hi! Maybe I am both? haha I am a doctor and just started writing fiction. Hoping my experiences can inspire my stories. A wet burrito is a burrito covered in sauce. :)
So beautiful. So heart-felt. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you, Joy!
Loved it, loved the neat ending, which causes the reader to reflect back on the entire piece. Very clever and moving. Great!
This is a wonderfully written and super emotional piece of writing!
great story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought this story was absolutely beautiful. Lily's friendship with Rebecca, as well as her family and seeing the growth from "keeping those two lives separate" to finally seeing Rebecca as someone close to her was so special. When she lost the baby it was so heartbreaking. I teared up reading it. This was a great story and I haven't been on here for so long, but this is already one of my favorites. Amazing story.
This was an astounding story I really loved it!
This was an astounding story I really loved it!
A Dr. who came to fully embrace the humanity and plights of her patients as well as her own ability to be empathetic.
This is a nice and emotional story, with lots of events that makes readers feel like they are part of it. Even though English is not my first language, I really enjoyed reading it. The story is great because it gives us insight into how doctors think. Thank you and continue doing well.
This story had me sitting on the edge of my seat. But the last line ties everything together. Great story. Congratulations on the win, you earned it!
A beautiful story about love and loss and the feeling of inadequacy at being able to always do the right thing
This is very good.
