Carmen invades my mind a lot, even years after her astonishing death. Life is strange like that, sometimes. How people who didn’t necessarily have a starring role in your life sometimes have the greatest impact. As an adult, I think of Carmen as the mom I want to be. She’s the mom I try to be, even though I will never be as carefree and full of joy as she was. I parent with law and order, Carmen did it with wildne...
Outstanding reviews
Wow. What a beautiful read. I started it then I couldn't stop, and now I really wanna go hug my mom.
Awww! Thank you! Go hug her!
I agree...I only caught one line and I was hooked.
yes i agree
You know, sometimes a person stands out so much they deserve to have their life shared with others. With me, I felt as though a person like this should be in everyone's life. Why? Life would be so much better.
I do remember moms like Carmen growing up. They're special people. This story was powerful and beautiful. And as a mom, it definitely strikes a cord. Thanks for sharing, and congratulations!
Thank you!

I love this story when I get home from school I am going to hug my mom and tell her how much I love her!!
I loved it. Have a short attention span unless sucked in right away, and this story did just that. Touching and beautifully described.
Thank you!
Thank you!
A very sweet and sincere story. I found it to be moving, though sad, and really well written.
heyI really like this piece of work. I want to use it as something that i read for my youtube channel. I'm starting a channel where I read stories in order to help other people fall asleep and I want to know if I can use this. I would love your reply :)
My goodness... I had goosebumps reading this. What a beautiful story. Left me speechless and a little teary eyed. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you so much!

Beautiful, heartfelt and powerful.
Beautiful story, I feel like I came to know Carmen, and I'm going to miss her too. My mom was like that with my twin daughters growing up, she's gone now and I miss her every day
Wonderful writer...I can picture each point u make
This was one of the few stories I actually enjoyed reading and narrating out loud. The emotion, detailing, commitment, everything. If Carmen were a real person, I would’ve loved her too. The empathy you can make people feel when they read this is incredible! 10/10, if I could rate it lol.
This was beautiful ❤️
i just start crying the part that they knew Carmen had a cancer😭i miss my mom ')
I am new to Reedsy and started reading the other stories and your work really stands out. You really draw a reader in and take them on enjoyable journey with your characters. Really enjoyed this story as like everyone else it conjured up many memories of my own. You really told the emotional importance well so when she died and her sordid occupation was revealed, the confused sad love she had for Carmen was really heartfelt. Late praise for your win - but Congrats none the less! Wonderful job!
Are we allowed to say, the author is beautiful.
There are people you meet who just make you feel the joy of being alive when you're with them. Carmen captures that essence and so does your story. Can't wait to read more of your work.
This short story was truly amazing. I am very inspired by the way Lindsay Flo twisted the words together in an elegant way, keeping me hooked the whole time. Definitely deserved the win, especially considering it was her first short story on Reedsy.
