Jess Granger passed away from his third heart attack as he watched Wheel of Fortune in his apartment. An hour later I got the call from his sister Beth. Through her tears she told me the details and said she had made all the final arrangements. His funeral would be on Saturday. Outstanding reviews
Jess is such a strong, vivid character. No wonder he stuck around after his death. A small note: I did bump on this sentence: "Every year the team seemed to have a team that was a strong contender for a pennant, but somehow they always came up short." Is there a better way to describe the subject than using the word team twice?
Audrey, I usually try to avoid this error of doubling my words, but every now I miss one. Glad you like the character though.
Me too! It was an enjoyable read over all.
Thank you, Aubrey
Congrats. All this seeing-after-death thing is a scary one. Let them move along.

Welcome.
Great story George! Loved the line: “Bums I tell ya, nothing but bums.” The idea of a fan hanging on for his team to make good. Being more concerned about how the game turned out than his heart attack. That checks out. And the ending with Ralphie showing up at Fenway was classic. Congrats!
One for the Gripper. (Don't have a clue if that is relevant. Not much of a sport fan but am a fan of your writing.)Congrats on the shortlist. This is great!🥳
