I harbor a secret fantasy that the lot of us are undead zombies. Shuffling corpses. Slavish, insentient lumps of meat. Navigating the public transportation system by reflex, devoid of any signs of higher-level cognitive function.I am waiting on a train platform to board the Long Island Railroad. The platform of Riverhead Station is indistinguishable from the platforms of any of the multitude of other trains run by the Metropolitan Transit Authority. The branching arteries all lead back to the beating heart—New York,...
Outstanding reviews
You are truly writing the living crap out of the prompts! You have a wonderful skill with darkness and pain, and the imagery intensifies the mood and emotion. Excellent work!
Thanks, Martin!
Your writing skills are built different. Care to share any tips?❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
Congrats Jonathan on yet another recognized piece of art! You’re rockin this writing thing like a BOSS!
Thanks, Judith!
Congrats. One of these days I will visit there.
Thanks, Philip!
Welcome.
Great descriptions of the ridiculousness of corporate office culture. I was looking for the historical fiction tag from the Northeast blackout of 2003. I drank that coffee and say under those fluorescent lights in that deputy assistant to the coordinator job. I appreciate the optimism you ended with. Don't go back to that office, keep writing instead ;) Congrats ! !
Thanks, Marty!
Thanks, Marty!
Thanks, Scott! I have certainly done the commuting thing and it is something that if you've done it, then you know how terrible it can be. I have a lot of stories though from the 2003 blackout which happened pretty much right when I had first got my feet under me in New York. I wish I had written down what happened that day at the time because it could be such a great element for so many stories. It was such an otherworldly day. Glad you liked the story.
What a world you have created. I love the idea that people become human again when they're focused on each other. My favorite parts of this had to do with the specific details. You do such a good job of creating an environment by having us look at the small things.
Thanks Kathryn!
Couldn't decide on which one of yours to read this week so just thought I would wait to see which one won. Congrats on the win. It's a good one like all of them. Reminds me why I hate city living.
Thanks Mary!
Man I find it hard to keep up with your output but never disappointed..this one really hit hard. Questioning similar things myself lately. Great stuff
Thanks, Derrick!
