I miss her; I imagine she misses me worse. It’ll be years until I hear back, and years until she hears me, and I’ll be listening to a recording already years old and the real her will be on Earth alone. I keep myself sane with math; I send her how long she’ll have to wait with each message. You’ll hear from me again in six years. I love her. When I left we were both twenty-six. It was insane; a l...
Outstanding reviews
Nice to see a SF with such humanity and not so much techy jargon.
Thank you! I love reading accessible science fiction, and this in particular is a topic that fascinates me; I've always felt sci-fi is best when you can feel why it matters to the characters.
Nice story! Love the bio, though. :P
Thank you on both points!
Wow! This was beautiful and touching! Excellent work!!
Thank you!
"I want my feet on the ground and I want my head in the stars." Wow!!! 😭👏👏
Thank you! One of the lines I worked the hardest on.
This was absolutely beautiful! A perfect combination of hope and melancholy. A truly deserved win, congratulations!
Thank you so much; I'm glad you liked it!
This kind of reminds me of the book the ‘weight of the stars’
Hey, that's on my to-read list! Happy to be compared; it looks great.
Deep and reviving...tearful , hopeful Just simply love the mash-up of humanity and sci-fi. I just don't understand how deep its gonna fall in my soul, do I really feel the theme?
Thank you so much! I'm incredibly happy that people are feeling the combination of science and human emotion.
Beautiful!!
Thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I can visualize the book jacket to this story.
Thank you so much! I made a couple of graphics for the story as promotional material, so I wonder what your imagined jacket looks like.
The book jacket I visualized had a comet trail in the dark background, with an embossed overlay in the foreground.
That's lovely! I also imagined speed lines and the like. Thank you for sharing.
Interesting and unique story. I liked the questions you posed throughout. Great job, I enjoyed reading it!
Thank you; I spent a lot of time meditating on these subjects before writing.
I love how sweet and almost forlorn this is. Usually I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan but this was a great take on the prompt!
Thank you! You know, I'm often not a sci-fi fan either because I find that it can be very difficult to balance all of that technology with real ideas about humanity. I'm very glad I was able to reach you across genres.
Of course! I agree with that sentiment as well. Also just the idea of androids is unsettling, I can't imagine more. At least with fantasy I can sleep knowing people aren't creating dragons XD. But anyways, ya! Great job!
SF with humanity. i want them both to be happy and i want to know more
Thank you! I also want them both to be happy, naturally.
this is so ;-;
Great story and a well deserved win! Congratulations!
Thank you so much; that's very kind of you!
That was such a nice journey in the headspace of the narrator 😍
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow your story was perfect 💜
Thank you! That's very kind.
Aaaaaaaa gay.....yes. good.
Thank you Avi!! You know my tastes.
This is great, Yves! Congrats for the two-time win!
Thank you so much!
Congrats
Thank you! Best of luck in your efforts as well.
I absolutely LOVED this story! There was so much humanity behind this piece, something that I think gets lost often in science fiction. And emotions, too. So many emotions! I especially loved the last paragraph - it really tied everything together nicely. Your writing is very melancholic and beautiful, and I almost want to say nostalgic, too, but I'm not really sure why. Keep up the great work! :D
Thank you so much! My top goal in science fiction is always to bring in that real human emotion that drives us in every story. I'm glad to know that came through for you; thank you for the read and comment!
