“This is the twentieth time we’ve heard All I Want For Christmas Is You,” I say to Alicia. “No, Faith, this is the billionth time we’ve heard it.” She rolls her eyes, grinning. Alicia is my favorite person to work with at The Wrapping Paper Store. I’m not kidding, that’s the store's actual name. It’s so long, it barely fits on the green sign above the front door. At TWP...
Outstanding reviews
A nice, sweet story that many of us can relate to. I think many of us are guilty of moaning about the stores that get Christmassy too soon and play the same old songs on repeat, but we'd all miss it if it wasn't there.
Exactly! Especially when I was a teenager.
I really liked the twist here that the store held sentimental value for her. Those first holiday and Saturday jobs we do, they make such a big impression, even if we don't realise it at the time.
Yes! I completely agree! And thank you!
Well done on the shortlist. 🤗
Thank you!! I was so excited when I saw!
Very cute! I think it's often overlooked how sentimental a place can become to us and how hard it might be to leave it behind, even when it's for the best.
I totally agree! My last job was like that
Funny lines and emotional moments...a very nice story.Ok, I'll take your challenge. I've always believed I have the smartest dog in the world-Hooker. He isn't just smarter than any other dog, he is smarter than a dog...but I never tested his reading skills. So, I printed your story and laid it out on the floor for him...right next to his dog dish...so he can read it while he enjoys his supper. I will let you know his reaction.
Haha, let me how it goes!

I have friends who have worked at stores just like these and you really did a great job capturing that experience.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Emotional attachment. Congrats.
Thank you!
Oh nOOO, THE TOWN IS GOING TO BE SO SAD ABOUT THE STORE CLOSING!!! I didn't think I'd get sentimental, but here I am...Super cute and cozy story! I love small town vibes, they feel like home.
Thank you!! I appreciate that :)
Such a sweet story. Perfect for the holidays! Love how you described the small town -a nice blend of traditional and quirky-that you captured so well. Happy holidays.
I appreciate your comment so much! Thank you! Happy holidays :)
The little reveal at the end of the story made me go back and re-read the story to see what I missed. I appreciated the relationship between the girls and the boss; it was quite realistic, especially for small-town people. Polite but still truthful. Faith echoed this in her observations of a couple of people. That was quite well done. The humor was spot on as well.Family over everything. Good message. Good story, Alyssa.
I appreciate your comment so much! Thank you for reading!
This story is so wonderful. I love the theme of choosing your family over yourself, and I love the quirky setting you placed the story into. Well done!
