The way that pet's become bonded, the death of their person must be devastating, I like the framing of the spirit as a sprt of 'guardian angel', leading Sora from the life he knew to the next one.

I love the idea of this trickster spirit leading newly orphaned cats to physical refuge and simultaneously to a place of spiritual refuge.
Thanks Benja. I was actually visiting Fushimi Inari last February and came across quite a number of stray cats! Apparently there's like two dozen cats residing in that mountain, being taken care of by the shrine's caretakers. This story is based on them :)

Thanks for the kind words Philippa! I was actually in Kyoto last February and saw this week's prompt was a perfect place to incorporate the places I visited there. Really wanted to do the place justice :)
